Bill McGuire est volcanologue, climatologue et écrivain. Il est professeur émérite de géophysique et de risques climatiques à l’University College de Londres. En 2005, il a été coauteur du rapport du gouvernement britannique intitulé « The Role of Science in Natural Hazard Assessment » (Le rôle de la science dans l’évaluation des risques naturels). Il a contribué au rapport 2012 du GIEC sur le changement climatique et les événements extrêmes.
