Ilenia Farina is an Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering in the Department of Engineering at Parthenope University of Naples, Italy. She received a DPhil in Energy Science and Engineering from the same university. Her main research activities focus on the stabilization and solidification of hazardous industrial solid wastes, soils, and sediments; the development of energy-saving blended cements, concrete, and geopolymer materials made with coal fly ash, blast furnace slag, MSWI ashes, and other industrial by-products; the inertization of industrial and asbestos-containing wastes and sediments through mechanochemical treatments, with subsequent reuse of the resulting products as building materials; and life cycle assessment (LCA) of production processes for eco-compatible construction materials.
