Né en 1955 à Krefeld, Peter Longerich a été directeur du Centre de recherche sur l'holocauste et l'histoire du XXe siècle à l'université de Londres. Ses travaux sur la république de Weimar et le IIIe Reich font autorité. Il enseigne désormais à l'Universität der Bundeswehr de Munich.
