Dr. Modolo has extensive experience in studies of the production and function of signaling molecules in plants, which include H2S and NO among others. She also has expertise in plant nitrogen nutrition and plant response to abiotic stress. She holds a Master's and a Ph.D. in Functional and Molecular Biology from the State University of Campinas, with a postdoctoral residency from the Noble Research Institute, USA, funded by the National Science Foundation. She has experience in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, mainly on topics including secondary metabolism, nitrogen nutrition and cell signaling in plants on environmental stresses. She is an Associate Professor at UFMG, a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Advanced Research, and acts as a manuscript reviewer for several indexed scientific journals. She is a member of the Brazilian Society of Plant Physiology, the American Society for Plant Biologists (ASPB) and the Brazilian Society of Soil Science.
